Ladder characters automatically convert to Non-Ladder every 6 months, usually in May-June or November-December. Project Diablo 2 (PD2) and Path of Diablo (POD) private servers have two game modes: LOD SC Ladder + LOD HC Ladder, we do not sell on other modes. HC (nick is red) = Hardcore (you have to click extra checkbox whilst creating a character) SC (nick is gold) = Softcore (default mode)
8 x 5 realms ( D2R, Europe, US.East, US.West, Asia) make it 40 possible game modes (41 if counting Open ). If not, then you either play Single Player or do not play on official server. Please compare your login screen to the image, your character will be one of the 8 possible choices. If you need an extra challenge, try Hardcore!
Ladder gives you a brand new beginning and ability to compete on leaderboards to reach 99 level. Otherwise Ladder is a better and more popular choice where most people play. We recommend playing NL if you care about PvP and obtaining perfect items, as they are much cheaper there. To test Ladder vs NL, check how many public normal games are open. Lower average level likely means that it is less competitive and thus less players play there. You can estimate game mode's popularity (CL vs LOD and HC vs SC) by opening leaderboard and scrolling down to the bottom ranks. It is useful for transferring good rare items to a much bigger market or when using CRush service (access to Hell on a low level). Classic characters can be converted to Expansion but it is a one way trip. There are no runes, jewels or charms and unique/set items are limited to normal quality (no exceptional or elite). You may create CL char by ticking 'Pre-Expansion' checkbox during character creation. You may also play on Classic - without Lord of Destruction (LOD) expansion where endgame content is Act 4 Diablo (Chaos Sanctuary map). If you choose it then we will deliver your order for Diablo 2, not D2R. Those are old Diablo 2 game modes available in our server dropdown. There are no Europe, East, West or Asia realms in D2R. You can set your region and change it freely in the Launcher via a globe icon next to the 'play D2R' button:

Since all devices share the same server, you don't need to specify your device before purchase, just tell us upon delivery so we can login on the same device as you have :)ĭefault character creation choice is Softcore Non-Ladder but if you are not sure, please compare your character menu screen to the image below, your character will be one of the 4 possible online choices or you play offline (Single Player).
